  All Day Family History Research Event   The Chautauqua County Genealogical Society is hosting a seminar focusing on researching Family History on Saturday, April 26, 2014. The event will help people learn more about various free, online resources that can be used when researching their own family history. It will also provide important things to know when doing online research. Featured speakers include research specialist Rhonda Konig from the Buffalo and Erie County Public Library and Norman Carlson from the Fenton Historical Society in Jamestown, NY. The daylong event will be run from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Clarion Hotel in Dunkirk, NY on April 26 and will include morning refreshments and a lunch buffet.   All Day CAP 4th Annual Diamond Dinner Auction   Join the Chautauqua County Child Advocacy Program for the 4th Annual Diamond Dinner Auction at the Chautauqua Golf Club for a festive evening of fun, awareness and support for a worthwile cause. Please join us for delicious food from Andriaccio's and a wonderful array of live and silent auction items. Andrew Hill from Media ONe Group will be the Master of Ceremonies and District Attorney David Foley will present the Champion of Children Award.   All Day Salvation Army Anew Run/Walk   The Salvation Army Anew Center is a non-profit organization that provides free and confidential services to victims of domestic violence, rape and sexual assault in Chautauqua County. You can help support The Salvation Army Anew Center by joining in on the 8th Annual “5-K Anew Run and Walk” taking place on Saturday, April 26th at 9:30 am in downtown Jamestown. All proceeds will benefit The Salvation Army Anew Center Domestic Violence and Rape Crisis Services. Awards will be given to overall top male and female runners along with top three male and female finishers in each age group. Also, a prize will be given to the individual that raises the highest amount of pledges!   All Day vendor/craft show   Falconer Rod & Gun club on April 26th from 10-3pm, sponsored by the Rod and Gun Club. Proceeds from this event will benefit youth activities such as fishing derbies, archery and hunter safety courses, etc.
  All Day IONA BURKHOLDER BENEFIT & BLOOD DRIVE   A benefit will be held for Iona Burkholder at the Stanley Hose Company Fire Department in Sherman on April 26th. Doors open at 1pm and an Italian Pasta Bar will be served from 2- 7pm. The Red Cross will be there to hold a Blood Drive in Iona’s honor. Each donor will receive a free tee shirt and gift card to Tops. Iona was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) in January of this year after being rushed to Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. She will need to continue with chemotherapy treatment for the next 2 1/2 years. All proceeds will go to her family to help with medical and transportation costs. Local bands donating their time to play at the benefit include: The Bogarts, Uncle Claud’s Band, and the Kingsfield Family Band, and also a special performance for the children by local artist Lindsey Hinger. There will be raffles, Chinese auction, silent auction of artwork, and children’s activities. A special “Iona’s Army” tee shirts will be available to purchase at the benefit.
